The Chicago Bears took Lujack with the fourth overall pick in the 1946 NFL Draft. In his first season, the Bears utilized the versatile player primarily as a kicker where he appeared in nine games. In 1950, he was a part of one of the greatest quarterback corps ever assembled alongside Sid Luckman, George Blanda and Steve Romanik. During that 1950 season, Chicago tied for first in the National League but lost the tiebreaker to the Los Angeles Rams 24-14. He was elected to two Pro Bowl appearances and one All-Pro First Team. Lujack retired after four seasons in Chicago with 6,295 passing yards and 41 touchdowns on 404 completions in 808 attempts (50%).
